This scene brought together a couple of elements from recent books, though those elements were only seeds which took on a life of their own. The animals evolved from the general form of the Videshi, though they morphed into their own forms distinct from anything in the Videshi world. The mobile home they are pulling grew from the huge cars in The Long Dark, again greatly departed from that initial visual.
